Inspirational Leaders at IMAN

IMAN's roots date back to 1989 when a few families that settled in the Greater Seattle came together to establish a spiritual community to seek knowledge and serve.

As we complete 25th year of our formation in July 2022, during the celebration of the birthday of the Imam of our times, we recognized individuals who inspire as we strive to strengthen our vibrant caring sharing community in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

IMAN community is blessed to have Sister Mariam Kazmi, a student leader passionate about law and advocacy, a disciplined hard-working dependable individual who follows through on whatever she undertakes.

Mariam joined the IMAN community as a Sunday School student and is now a teacher. Last year she became the first President of the newly reorganized IMAN Youth Committee. One of the exciting accomplishments of this newly reconstituted youth group was the publication of a delightful 2021 Sunday School year book.

She serves the Kirkland, WA community helping provide dignified and excellent quality meals to all members of the community. Actively seeking out individuals who are willing to volunteer and make all dinners a success.

She co-founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called English 1 on 1 to have middle school and high school students teach conversational English to those who do not know how through high quality lessons. English 1 on 1 has students worldwide in Africa, Pakistan, China, and the US.

She helps plan events for Muslim youth in Washington state. She engages with the various teams to help settle refugees.

We are also very blessed to have the duo team of Sister Sidra Naqvi and Brother Ali Naqvi, who since Muharram 1442 AH (August 2020), after the breakout of the pandemic, have mobilized our community members to prepare and serve much needed meals at homeless shelters in and around Seattle.

Through the compassionate and generous efforts of volunteers from IMAN, particularly our caring sharing sisters, home cooked meals have been delivered every other week to the Tent City in Seattle, a temporary housing facility for the homeless. Direct individual donations have also been provided to shelters supporting and housing for women facing homelessness. During Ramadan in 2021, blankets and care packages were delivered to the Tent City.

We thank Allah SWT to bless us with such inspirational personalities.

We pray for their and our community's success in the times ahead.
