Strengthening Our Community Through Daily Prayer

Our daily prayer attendance at IMAN is an important reflection of the spiritual vitality of our community.

The attendance figures from the past month show that, while we have seen encouraging participation on some days, attendance remains inconsistent and there is considerable room for improvement.

Let us each make a renewed commitment to attending our daily congregational prayers, encouraging our family members to join us, and helping ensure that every prayer is adequately covered by our volunteers.

If you are unable to attend on your assigned day, please arrange a backup in advance so that we can maintain consistency. Even a small, regular contribution from each of us can make a significant difference.

As the Qur’an reminds us:

وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَارْكَعُوا مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ

“Keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, and bow your heads [in worship] with those who bow theirs.” (Sūrat al-Baqarah 2:43)

The beauty of our mosque and the strength of our community shine when we come together in worship for the sake of Allah (SWT). Let us work together to fill our mosque with worshippers and strengthen the bonds of faith, fellowship, and service.

Jazakum Allah Khayran for your continued commitment and support. May Allah (SWT) accept our prayers and efforts, and grant us the tawfīq to establish and sustain a spiritually vibrant community. Āmīn.

IMAN Center Blood Drive Saturday September 19th, 2026

Thank you to those who participated on the September 19th, 2026 blood drive.

Unfortunately, the participation was really low.

    • 5 donors registered
    • 1 donor was deferred
    • 4 units were collected
    • 2 first-time donors participated

Our hospitals rely on us and the buses that are sent out it’s with the expectation that we’ll have a full or mostly full appointment sheet to ensure we can collect the blood for the local patients and hospitals. We are hopeful that perhaps with increased awareness we can bring the participation up to our minimum requirements for a mobile drive to be worthwhile

We are currently scheduled for:

    • Friday, February 5
    • Friday, June 18
    • Friday, August 27
    • Friday, December 10

If the February drive does not yield strong participation, we will need to visit how we participate in these blood drives moving forward.

Sūrat Yūnus: Revelation, Faith, Mercy, and Choice

Alhamdulillah, our daily Qur'an Study Circle has completed deliberations on Sūrat Yūnus, the 10th chapter of the Qur’an.

Revealed primarily in the Makkan period, the sūrah addresses a people who question revelation, doubt the Resurrection, and turn away from the clear signs of Allah. It is a powerful call to recognize the truth, respond to it with faith, and place complete trust in Allah.

The central question of the sūrah is:

When the truth is made clear, how will we respond?

Sūrat Yūnus repeatedly directs our attention to Allah's signs - in revelation, creation, the alternation of night and day, the experiences of hardship and ease, and the history of earlier peoples. The problem is not a lack of evidence; rather, it is the human tendency to overlook, deny, or forget what the signs reveal. The sūrah therefore calls us to move beyond merely seeing the signs to recognizing their meaning and responding with faith.

A major theme is the contrast between faith and heedlessness. People often turn sincerely to Allah when calamity strikes, only to forget Him when relief comes. Others witness the same signs yet remain attached to worldly assumptions and desires. The sūrah challenges us to develop a faith that is not dependent upon circumstances, but remains rooted in certainty, gratitude, and trust in Allah.

The stories of Nūḥ (ʿa), Mūsā (ʿa), and Pharaoh demonstrate that the struggle between truth and falsehood is not new. Pharaoh possessed immense worldly power, yet that power could not protect him when he rejected Allah's truth. In contrast, the believers who trusted Allah were given a way forward. These accounts remind us that apparent worldly power does not determine ultimate success; Allah's promise and judgment transcend what human beings can see.

At the heart of the sūrah is also the profound theme of divine mercy. The people of Yūnus (ʿa) provide a remarkable example: when they genuinely believed before punishment overtook them, Allah removed the punishment from them. Their story demonstrates that sincere turning toward Allah can transform the course of a people and that His mercy remains open to those who respond truthfully.

The closing verses bring the sūrah back to personal responsibility and choice. The Prophet ﷺ is commanded to declare his exclusive worship of Allah and his rejection of shirk. The final message is clear: truth has come from Allah; whoever accepts guidance benefits himself, and whoever chooses misguidance harms himself. Guidance is offered, but each person remains responsible for his or her response.

In the broader Qur’anic sequence, Sūrat at-Tawbah examined whether a believing community would remain truthful when faith demanded sacrifice, accountability, and repentance. Sūrat Yūnus then turns from the community's outward commitment to the believer's response to Allah's truth. It moves us from accountability to certainty, from witnessing Allah's signs to trusting Him, and from receiving guidance to accepting personal responsibility for our choices.

Key Reflection: Allah's signs are all around us and His guidance has been made clear. The essential question is not whether we have seen the truth, but whether that truth has transformed how we believe, trust, worship, and live.

This should fit naturally with the style and progression of the earlier monthly reflections.

Community members are encouraged to benefit through active daily participation, as well as by engaging with the Qur'an Study Circle being developed and shared each day.

IMAN Center Extension — We Need Your Input!

MG2 has shared the latest exterior design proposals for the IMAN Center extension for our consideration.

Please review the proposals shared here and send your thoughts, comments, and feedback to remodel@iman-wa.org. The current consensus is to iterate on Option 2 ("Reveal") with some option for Option 4 ("Grand Entry").

Please also feel free to share this with anyone who may have useful perspectives or contributions to make.

One initial consideration from me: we should be cautious about incorporating wood or other materials that may require frequent maintenance, given the long-term upkeep of the building.

Community Dinners: Serving Together

Monthly dinners that IMAN hosts with St. John’s present opportunities to contribute to serving those in need and displaced individuals.

If you are interested in helping organize future monthly community dinners, please contact Br. Abbas Kazmi or send an email to socialservices@iman-wa.org.
