Purpose

IMAN’s Sunday School serves to meet the religious educational and social needs of any child irrespective of gender, race, ethnicity and religious background. Primary emphasis is on imparting religious education and reinforcing Islamic values according to the Shia Ithna-Asheri school of thought. Sunday School also provides a social environment that enables school children to interact with their Muslim peers to build a support system of their own. Children will be encouraged to participate in a variety of recreational and volunteering activities.

To provide our children an environment which will enable them to achieve their highest potential, founded on Islamic morals, scholastic excellence, and good citizenship.

A volunteer sub-committee composed of parents and IMAN Members operate the Sunday school under terms of reference.

​Every Sunday from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, eager kids and rushed parents meet at the Sunday school. The school student body comprises of children of ages 5 to 13 from a diverse background. Several teachers and volunteers help out in the running of the school. In addition to being taught to recite Salaat and Qur’an, children are instructed in Qur’anic Study, Islamic History, Akhlaq and Fiqh (Jurisprudence). Students above 13 are encouraged to return as TAs, so they can be groomed into future teachers, and future leaders of our community.

A key aspect of the school is to provide a social environment that enables school children to interact with their Muslim peers and build a support system of their own. In addition to Islamic studies as outlined above, children are encouraged to participate in a variety of recreational and volunteering activities. Examples of such past activities include inner tubing at the Snoqualmie slopes, food drive during Eid, end of school year camp/picnics, etc.

As our children begin another school year, we need to ask:

What kind of human beings are we trying to raise?

Every parent wants their child to succeed.

We want our children to receive a good education.

We want them to develop confidence, skills, and meaningful friendships.

We want them to have opportunities, fulfilling careers, and a good life.

But as Muslims, we must ask a deeper question:

What does it mean for our child to have a good life?

Is success simply getting good grades?

Is it getting into a good university?

Is it having a successful career?

Is it earning enough money?

Or is true success becoming a person who knows Allah, understands their purpose, has good character, serves others, and can navigate the dunya without becoming enslaved by it?

All parents, students, teachers, administrators, community members are encouraged to spend a few minutes reflecting on these ideas—especially as we prepare to begin our 2026/2027 school year and look forward to a successful and meaningful year together.

We are all asked to make five commitments

• FAITH: Know Allah. Trust Allah. Believe in the potential and goodness in one another.
• GROWTH: Learn. Reflect. Improve. Teach our children how to learn and think.
• COMMUNITY: Belong. Connect. Build relationships. Turn strangers into friends.
• SERVICE: Give. Help. Welcome. Contribute. Be candles that give light to others.
• DISCIPLINE: Commit. Show up. Be punctual. Follow through. Be dependable.

These are not simply values we teach our children. They are values we must model ourselves.

May Allah help us raise a generation that succeeds not only in the dunya, but also in faith, character, service, and purpose—and that uses whatever success Allah grants them to make the world a better place.

​Parents who missed the session and who have enrolled their child(ren) for new Sunday School year need to certify that they have watched the recorded presentation.

Tuition and Fees

IMAN Member Families

• Annual tuition: $450 per student
• Textbooks & Supplies Fee: $50 per student

Non IMAN Member Families

• Annual tuition: $450 per student
• Textbooks & Supplies Fee: $50 per student
• Family registration fee: $480 per family

Volunteer / Teaching Opportunity

Sunday School sub-committee is always looking for new volunteers to help teach or TA regular classes. This gives an opportunity to existing teachers to take a break once in a while. Community members and parents are requested to volunteer as teachers or, as TAs that can help and learn to be teachers for the future. This is a great opportunity to contribute to our children’s education and is a very rewarding experience. Please contact the IMAN school committee if you would like to volunteer as a Teacher or a TA.
